From January 2012 we now ask pupils to pay a small charge of £1 per person per class. This money helps pay for running costs such as resources, expenses etc. After school classes for Somali young people run throughout term-time. The classes are targeted towards young people from school years 7 to 11 and are focused upon support and challenge. Teams of experienced volunteers support the young people with their homework tasks and also challenge them to increase their learning so that they may get the most out of their secondary education. GCSE Mathematics Class - Wednesdays @ 6.30pm For young people in years 10 and 11, this mid-week class offers tuition and support with GCSE Maths. The team of committed tutors offer foundation level work for 1 hour every week. Each week there are different teaching topics covering the main aspects of the national curriculum. This is a great opportunity for young people to improve their ability with Maths, which is usually one of the toughest subjects. GCSE Science Class - Wednesdays @ 7.30pm The science class covers the GCSE double science curriculum, with flexibility to recognise the fact that students at different schools do not all follow the same syllabus. The main focus is to develop Science skills, which can be applied whatever pupils are studying at school at the time. KEY STAGE 3 English Class -Wednesday @ 5.30pm This class is open to young people in school years 7, 8 and 9 in order to support them with their English skills. Our team of committed tutors go through a variety of reading, writing, speaking and listening skills to help give young people a firm foundation as they progress through secondary school. The classes are very popular and occasionally we have to ask pupils to go on a waiting list if there is not enough room in the class at the time. If you have any questions, please contact us via this website and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
